We, the students of the AA, believe this should never happen. Further awareness and visibility of the war must be fostered. To do so we are transforming the corner of Bedford Square, installing 12 tank traps and 130 sandbags, just as they have been across Ukraine. Those used from WW2 have even been removed from museums and reinstated. Tank traps are not weapons. Instead, they are a means of defence. Their insertion into Central London will serve as a reminder of violence that still occurs, operating as a focal point, a space to generate conversation and awareness; to defend against normalisation.
Please join us on 20 May 2022 at 7pm for an opening event on the corner of Bedford Square with poetry readings and ambient Georgian music.
