AA alum Abhishek Wagle is exhibiting his design work, Temporary Conversations, as a part of the DesignTO Festival in Toronto from 23 January – 29 March 2026. The work will be showcased in Traces,
a group exhibition at the Harbourfront Centre featuring ten local and
international artists, designers and collectives exploring the weight of
migration and forced relocation — what we carry, what we leave and how
we belong again.
Abhishek’s Project Temporary Conversations
is a series of dismantlable pieces of furniture initiated during his time at the AA. The project had initially aimed to facilitate
spontaneous conversations in the public realm, but led to deeper
conversations with strangers around visa instability, migration and
exclusion. The project takes on a new life in Toronto as artifacts on a
journey through public space. Most of the pieces hold memories of a
former life at Bedford Square and Hooke Park.
The opening reception will be held on 30 January with free tickets available here. There will also be a closing roundtable featuring talks from Alum Noah Gotlib on 28 March 2026.
