AA alum Richard Gerald-Rondón has been included in the 2026 cohort of ‘40 Architects Under 40’ convened by the Sociedad Colombiana de Arquitectos (Colombian Society of Architects), the country’s principal professional body. The award aims to highlight young and emerging architects whose practice reflects new ways of understanding and practicing architecture today. The cohort was selected by an international curatorial committee who assessed the contributions of 175 applicants working in architectural practice across design, research, pedagogy and cultural production in Colombia. The panel’s selection recognises the achievements of architects whose work expands the disciplinary field through interdisciplinary work and conceptual rigour. This year’s cohort will be conferred at a public ceremony on 30 April 2026, taking place at the Teatro Colón in Bogotá.
Since studying on the History and Critical Thinking MA, Richard has worked at the intersection of architectural theory, practice-based research and editorial work. Recent projects include the translation of Invention in the Architectural Project by Head of Environmental and Technical Studies, Javier Castañón.
