AA alumni Basmah Kaki and Hessa Al Bader, who founded Studio Bound in 2015, have been selected to design Saudi Arabia’s Pavilion at the 17th Venice Biennale this summer. Their exhibition is entitled ‘Accommodations’, and it analyses a series of spatial and social encounters in which the histories, protocols and gestures of quarantine, hosting and housing in Saudi Arabia are intertwined.

Studio Bound are currently leading a number of key projects in UNESCO heritage sites in Al Balad in Jeddah, and AlUla, as well as key projects along the Red Sea Highway. The 17th Venice Biennale takes place this year from Sunday 2 May to Sunday 21 November.
