AA alumnus Asif Khan of Asif Khan Studios has been shortlisted for the renewal project of London’s Barbican Centre. Asif Khan Studios has entered the shortlist in collaboration with Allies and Morrison, with the final winner to be announced in April 2022.

Asif Khan is one of five shortlisted teams that will now be asked to propose design options for the project, which would be deliverable with a construction budget of £50m–£150m. City Corporation, London’s municipal governing body, will approve the final project.

The renewal will also aim to tackle the Barbican’s environmental output, with the City Corporation’s Climate Action Strategy committing to net zero carbon status by 2027.
