Congratulations to AA alumnus Fabrizio Matillana, who has been included in the 2020 cohort of RIBAJ 'Rising Stars'. The awards aim to ‘recognise those individuals pulling together teams, pioneering the use of new technology, leading change and delivering great buildings – the individuals who will be making a difference to the built environment in the years to come’.

“Fabrizio Matillana stood out for this year’s judges as a qualified architect and planner who is aligning the two disciplines by bringing design thinking to planning issues.”

At Enfield Council, Matillana has been working to promote clear and proactive planning advice. He is now leading the urban design advice for Meridian Water Phase 1 and large projects at Edmonton Green and New Southgate. Judge and AA SED tutor, Klaus Bode cited: ‘Matillana shows a true balancing act between quality design, community and planning needs.’
