Inigo Minns' work on the film Napoleon, directed by Ridley Scott, starring Joaquin Phoenix, was nominated in the Best Visual Effects category at the 96th Academy Awards. In competition with Mission Impossible, Godzilla and Guardians of the Galaxy the category covers VFX and post-production in film.
Inigo’s design work on the architecture and settings in the film included transforming live-action shoots from locations and studios in the UK and Malta into CGI versions of the 19th Century world Napoleon would have encountered. Following in-depth research into places from Napoleon’s life and travels, period settings were created to resemble Place de La Concorde, the Kremlin, Toulon, Versailles and rural France.
