AA Architecture and Urbanism (DRL) Founder Patrik Schumacher has been awarded the 2025 European Prize for Architecture, one of the discipline’s most distinguished honours. The prize, jointly conferred by The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, recognises architects whose work embodies a commitment to innovation and critical engagement. Schumacher has been recognised for his ongoing development of parametricism, part of which was the founding of AA DRL in 1996.
This year, the European Prize for Architecture was shared with Suad Amiry, whose work involves architectural heritage and cultural preservation across Palestine.
The formal award ceremony is taking place in Athens on 20 September 2025. Find out more about the award here.
