The AJ October issue is guest-edited by POor (Power Out of Restriction) Collective, a socially-minded design practice that works with ‘young people to create tangible outputs in their local environments’. POor Collective is led by Shawn Adams, Larry Botchway, Ben Spry and Matt Harvey-Agyemang. This issue provides a platform for emerging built environment practitioners, including AA INTER4 tutors Akil Scafe-Smith and Seth Scafe-Smith of RESOLVE Collective. This issue of the AJ includes a challenge for its practitioner audience, to ask practices to stop exploiting young designers, to pay young designers for their time, and to consider young designers with an open mind rather than pigeon-holing their skill set.
