AA tutor and alum Marko Milovanovic will screen his feature-length film Temptation of Influence at the Irish Film Institute in Dublin on Thursday 9 October, as part of the Irish Focus series.
Temptation of Influence (44 min) is a filmic essay tracing how architectural ideas are passed down, reinterpreted and inevitably misread across generations. Centred on Irish architect Shane de Blacam (de Blacam and Meagher Architects), the starting point for this story is the quiet microcosm of his Dublin study, where plates from Palladio’s Four Books frame sketches by Louis Kahn. From this room, the film unfolds across Ireland, the Veneto and the American East Coast (New Haven, Philadelphia and New Hampshire) weaving landscapes, buildings and conversations into a meditation on memory, lineage and creative inheritance.
Contributors include Kenneth Frampton, Níall McLaughlin, Sheila O’Donnell, Mary Laheen, Peter Carroll and William Whitaker, among others.
Tickets are available for the Thursday 9 October screening in Dublin on the IFI event page.
The film will also be shown at the AA on Tuesday 18 November as part of the Public Programme. Details can be found on the AA event page.
