Serie Architects, the architectural practice that includes AA tutor Martin Jameson (AADipl(Hons) 2008 and Diploma 1 tutor) and alumni Bolam Lee (AADipl(Hons) 2008) and Chris Lee (AADipl(Hons) 1998 and former Academic Staff), have formally announced the opening of the State Court Complex in Singapore.
The project comprises two 178 metre towers: one a courtroom tower and the other an administrative tower for the judges and their staff. The courtroom tower has no facade and features extensive tropical planting. The two towers are linked by a series of footbridges that allow judges to directly access the relevant courtroom from multiple levels.
The towers aim to amalgamate the opposing features, colours and textiles of the modern high-rises and traditional Chinatown shophouses that are part of the immediate surroundings into one concept.
