AA Environmental and Technical Studies tutor Patricia Mato-Mora has been published in Craft Research Journal. The aim of the journal is to advocate for and promote current and emerging craft research, including research into materials, processes, methods, concepts, aesthetic and style.
Mato-Mora’s article, 'A Single Ecstasy' has been recently featured in the journal, appearing in Issue 1, Volume 14. ‘A Single Ecstasy’ presents a discussion of the relationship between artist and material, prompted by an analysis of Miquel Barceló's ceramic intervention in the Chapel of Saint Peter, inside the Cathedral of Palma de Majorca, Spain. The piece unveils how the Taoist worldview could inform a reading of this artwork; of the artist’s practice; and of contemporary Western notions about art, architectural space, materiality and the body.
Patricia Mato-Mora has worked as a craftswoman and fabricator specialising in clay, earth and ceramics since 2013, and has taken part in artist residencies worldwide, including at the European Ceramic Workcentre and Konstfack University for Arts, Crafts and Design. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally, in publications such as The Journal of Modern Craft, Scroope Cambridge Architecture Journal and The Architectural Review.
