Tokyo Ride, a film by ‘Homo Urbanus’ (DIP16) tutors Ilâ Beka and Louis Lemoine has been awarded the Milano Design Film Festival Award for their film ‘Tokyo Ride’. The film was awarded the ‘Artistic Vision Award’ at the DocAviv festival and the ‘Depth of Field’ Award, which selects ‘films that push the envelope of the genre, redefining the word documentary’. The panel of judges commented at MDFF commented that:
‘The jury appreciated the narrative quality unrelated to specific architectural themes and focused on thought and storytelling. The film penetrates the world of Ryūe Nishizawa, a notoriously shy character together with Kazuyo Sejima, in a profound, personal and never ordinary way. Interesting is the point of view chosen to talk about the figure of the architect and the contrast between Eastern and Western cultural models. The film reveals an unconventional Tokyo in an original, compelling and in some cases poetic way - that of a car journey.’
