Sho Ito and Jisoo Hwang will be lecturing at the University of Sheffield on The Golden Blue. The lecture programme is open to the public and aims to critically analyse and articulate the over-extraction of water and sand where illegal extraction has exponentially increased in the last two decades to keep pace with the ever-growing demand fuelled by population growth. The discussion unveils and raises questions on how these resources are extracted, distributed, commodified and consumed by post-developed nations and multinational corporations. The lecture will highlight how the implications of such practices are social and environmental, as well as inherently architectural.
