Material Cultures received this year’s Peter Davey Prize at the 2024 AR Emerging Awards for their commitment to decarbonising building practices. Material Cultures is directed by Summer Islam (AA alum), George Massoud (AA alum and previous tutor), and Paloma Gormley. Editor of The Architectural Review, Manon Mollard said: ‘The studio attends to the wider ecology of architecture: the landscapes from which building products are created, the pedagogy of construction techniques as well as material research.’
