AA alumnus Andrew Whalley and former tutor Hanif Kara have been recognised by the Queen in the New Year Honours List. The annual honours pay tribute and offer recognition to those who have made achievements in public life and committed themselves to serving and helping the UK.

Whalley, now Grimshaw’s global chair, has been awarded an OBE for services to architecture and environmental sustainability.

Kara, former AA lecturer and co-founder of Engineers AKTII, has received an honour for his services to architecture, engineering and education.
