Admin History: The recording is of the 4th lecture in the series entitled 'The Neighbour', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2009-2010. In this lecture Cousins explores the notion of neighbour from the prospect of relocation, in which the word 'neighbor' migrates as different words fulfilling the same function, taking the language of siblings, familial terms and comrades. He touches on Freud's analysis of group psychology and also explores the effect of projecting familial terminology onto social and political relations, examining the 'Fuhrerprinzip' and the incest taboo. Cousins goes on to attempt a definition of the term 'ideology' and the concept of 'home' which, by the principle of projection, is extended to create the notion of 'homeland.'
