Admin History: The recording is of the 15th lecture in the series entitled 'Conservation', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA General Studies programme, 1996-97. In this lecture, Mark Cousins discusses relations between conservation and gender. His analysis considers concepts such as the absence of the 'mother' and the absence of 'maternal breast' and their consequences. He also examines the defeat of patriarchy, incest and religion as cultural formations, concluding his argument with a call for a profound reformation and attempt to build a new conception of the Earth.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.wma format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
