Admin History: The recording is of the 3rd lecture in the series entitled 'The Poetics of Cliche', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2011-2012. In this lecture, Mark Cousins looks into clich as 'the commonplace'; how clich arises as a problem and its relation to the organisation of discourse, class and pretentiousness. His investigation examines the clich in terms of loss of place in modernity and the impossibility to translate poetry and language as language.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
