Admin History: The recording is of the 2nd lecture in the series entitled 'Technology and the First Person Singular'', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2010-2011. In this lecture on Inscription and Spacing, Mark Cousins continues to investigate how technology and subjectivity are linked. Through a range of different authors, he presents the idea that writing is not a technique but actually intervenes in our relationship with ourselves. Finally, he discusses the multitude of functions that the eye solicits and how, because of the cultural sense of sight, it is not to be explained by the dominant role of 'the seen'.
