Admin History: The recording is of the 8th lecture in the series entitled 'Technology and the First Person Singular', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2010-2011. Mark Cousins continues to develop the idea of reality and its representation. He presents different arguments and critical theories produced since Socrates- ideas that have shaped our understanding of reality in both a temporal sense and an ontological sense. Finally, he argues that we are not determined by reality and describes Freud's idea in which reality is actually the obstacle to a wish.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
