Admin History: The recording is of the 9th lecture in the series entitled 'Technology and the First Person Singular', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2010-2011. In this lecture, Mark Cousins continues to develop the argument regarding mimesis and media. He suggests that mimesis has been hegemonized by the idea of representation in the history of the fine arts. In addition, he proposes that the art object is experienced not as 'knowledge', through cognition, but as a specific aesthetic condition.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
