Admin History: The recording is of the 4th lecture in the series entitled 'Nobody', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2007-2008. In this lecture, Mark Cousins speaks about the category of 'nothing' and its relation to culture. Cousins focusses upon the term 'nullify', examining it in the light of legal theory, citing as an example, its use and legal function within the wedding ceremony. Cousins also discusses the activities concerned with the practice of naming and analyses the function of 'nullify' in Sigmund Freud's account of the pleasure principle and death instinct.
