Admin History: The recording is of the 1st lecture in a 3-part series delivered by Mark Cousins on the 14th, 15th and 16th January, 2002. In this lecture, Cousins discusses the architectural influence of Heidegger as well as the concept of 'home', referring in detail to Jean-Luc Godard's film, 'Le Mepris' (1963) and the 'homecoming' of Odysseus. He considers destiny and the degradation of marriage. In addition, he depicts Christianity as a religion of enclosure, believing it has an adverse influence on domestic spaces and their function. Finally, he concludes that 'home' is a blind spot for architecture.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
