Admin History: The recording is of the 9th lecture in the second lecture series entitled 'Psyche and Space', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA General Studies programme, 2001-2002. In this lecture Mark Cousins points out that the aim of the series is to approach the issue of form, but not through objectivity. He then proposes the phrase 'strength of meaning', regarding it as a reading not concerned with accuracy. Subsequently he links this phrase to the topic of identification of form and declares that absolute emptiness and exhaustion of fantasy are fundamental to the experience of individuality and comprehension. In conclusion, Mark Cousins identifies liquidation of transference as the origin of generosity and beginning of comprehension.
Custodial History: Audio cassette recording was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and retained by the AA Photo Library until 2019, when it was transferred to the AA Archives.
