Admin History: The recording is of the 1st lecture in the series entitled 'Distructure', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2008-2009. In this introductory lecture, Mark Cousins presents the general ideas he will be developing throughout the year. Based on different authors, he explains his theme is based upon that of destruction and the city, as interpretated through an examination of the various narratives, stories and myths that have been (and still are) being told. He introduces his concept of an ideology and economy of loss, within memory, that arises when people finish grief.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
