Admin History: The recording is of the 3rd lecture in the series entitled 'Technology and the First Person Singular'', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2010-2011. In this lecture, Mark Cousins puts forward Walter Benjamin's work on reproduction to argue that not all copies are mechanical and require the presence of the original as a prerequisite to the concept of authenticity. The line in the history of printing is presented from its prehistoric condition and function until the use of architects as a principle of systematicity.
