Admin History: The recording is of the 1st lecture in the series entitled 'The Face', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2017-2018. In this introductory lecture, Mark Cousins begins with an examinations of questions of the face. He describes a special relationship between the face and the soul, whereby the face is considered to express the movements and passions of the soul. He develops the idea that the frontality of the face relates to alignment and migrates in relation between the objects. Finally, Cousins associates 'the face' with 'the plane' within architectural discourse.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2017.
Aquisition: Digital preservation and access copies were created by the AA Archives in 2021, using the digital file held by the the AA Audio Visual Department.
