Admin History: The recording is of the 5th lecture in the series entitled 'The Face', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2017-2018. In this lecture, Mark Cousins examines the relationship between 'the face' and 'the façade'. He considers whether the face is a model for the façade, and relates It to the idea of mimesis in architecture, primarily as what he terms 'facialization'. Cousins presents the façade as a directionality problem, finally arguing that the face is the disruption of the stereotype for the stereotypical.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2018.
