Admin History: The recording is of the 8th lecture in the series entitled 'Where is Everyday Life?', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2012-2013. The title is not specified in the AA Events List but is given verbally by Mark Cousins during the lecture. In this lecture Mark Cousins discusses what he terms a mysterious dimension of everyday life and its relation with politics and different political modes of art. He recalls the revolutionary Situationist slogan, 'Beneath the pavement, the beach', used in Paris 1968. Cousins presents this slogan as an invitation to change relations between the field that spans sovereignty and territory, and the field beneath, the system of 'orderly pleasure'.
