Admin History: The recording is of the 7th lecture in the series entitled 'Technology and the First Person Singular', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2010-2011. In this lecture, Mark Cousins discusses media, from the technological aspect, in distinction to the way 'the medium' is traditionally formulated in the fine arts. He considers how an artwork becomes an 'art object' and how every artwork has to be 'presented' to the world. Consequently, Cousins argues, each form of art has a different work of presentation that has to be described.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
Aquisition: Digital preservation and access copies were created by the AA Archives in 2021, using the digital file held by the the AA Audio Visual Department.
