Admin History: The recording is of the 9th lecture in the series entitled 'Pain of Time Past', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA General Studies programme, 2005-2006. In the final lecture of the 'Pain of Time Past' series, Mark Cousins raises questions the of 'what can't we hope for?' and 'what is an obstacle to desire?' He looks into the wish to stop wishing and 'the lost object' as a shadow of Freud's pleasure principle.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.wma format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
Aquisition: Digital preservation and access copies were created by the AA Archives in 2021, using the digital file held by the the AA Audio Visual Department.
