Admin History: The recording is of the 2nd lecture in the series entitled 'Scenography', given by Mark Cousins as part of the AA Open Lecture series, 2013-2014. In this lecture, Mark Cousins begins by stating that 'inhibition' and 'exhibition' (as discussed in the previous lecture) are two domains of Art. He then proceeds to introduce a third domain - that of 'scenography'. Exploring Greek drama and theatrical space, Cousins dwells on the terms 'stage', 'centrally organized perspective' and 'paradox of representation'. In the latter section of the lecture, Mark Cousins uses defines scenography as the design of an apparatus which mediates the relationship between the artwork and the subject.
Custodial History: Original recording (format unknown) was made by the AA Audio Visual Department and a digital copy (.iso format) has been retained on the department's servers since c2013.
