The Events List state that "the conference will examine the renewed interest in Semper's seminal arguements. Topics will range from the debate over polychromy, to his views on dressing (Bekleidung), elements of architecture and style." In this paper, Mark Cousins discusses the impact of the history of 'styles' upon architectural education. He argues that this approach has tended to invoke comparisons or representations of the past. Cousins invites architectural students to take a different approach.
