As of 1 October 2019, the AA has the right to award its own degrees and establish new academic programmes and degree awards. We can now create some of the world’s most pioneering courses in architecture to shape and build not only the future of the school, but also the world outside the walls of 36 Bedford Square. With the freedom to invent and experiment with new forms of architectural education, what are the new ideas and programmes the AA should be exploring? What agendas can we introduce that reflect the ethos of the school and push us beyond what we thought was possible?
The Directions series provides the School Community with a forum to discuss issues such as new agendas with Eva Franch, the School Director. This year, these lunchtime conversations will gather opinions and information for the development of the 2020-25 Strategic Plan. Presentations on key developments in the vision and mission of the school will open a space for discussion and debate that supports the participatory democracy that forms the foundation of the AA. These events are open to all members of the School Community.
