Christopher Lindinger is director of the Futurelab at Ars Electronica Centre. After outlining a brief history of Ars Electronica in Linz and the correlative development and structure of Futurelab, a place 'somewhere between an artists group and a research institution', he discusses his work there and shows several projects including 'INSTAR', 'Gulliver's Box', 'SAP Berlin', and 'Visualizing Stravinsky'. After studying computer science at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Lindinger developed educational software and control software for large industrial plants until 1998. Since then he has been a freelance developer of virtual environments, computer graphics and computer vision at the Ars Electronica Futurelab becoming head of its Virtual Environments research group in 2001.
