Please note: This event is at University of Illinois at Chicago, USA
Please join us for a roundtable discussion at the University of Illinois at Chicago to celebrate the launch of Cedric Price Works 1952-2003: A Forward-Minded Retrospective. Written by Samantha Hardingham and co-published by the Architectural Association and the Canadian Centre for Architecture, this two-volume anthology is the first comprehensive collection of all of Price’s built and unbuilt projects, lectures and articles. While a first roundtable at the AA last October invited former office members, colleagues and collaborators to share their experiences of working with Price, this event will focus on the making of the project – working on Price. Eleanor Bron will represent the Cedric Price Estate and describe how she initiated the project and its evolution over nine years; Samantha Hardingham will talk about the work that went into collecting, editing, curating and creating the content for the book through research, exhibitions and writing; Brett Steele, Director of the AA will discuss the nature of such a project from his perspective as the co-publisher, Albert Ferré, Associate Director of Publications at the CCA, will introduce the range of scholarship that is now being generated from the Cedric Price Fonds; and Sarah Herda, Director of the Graham Foundation will talk about the commitment to support the project from an early stage. The conversation will be chaired by Robert Somol, Director of the School of Architecture at UIC.
