Landscape architect Olga Tarras's career has encompassed residential buildings, exhibitions, interior design, furniture for exterior urban spaces, together with a number of urban renewal projects, most notably in Barcelona. Her practice, Olga Tarras Climent, have developed a series of four urban projects occupying more than 260,000 metres of public space along the seafront of the Barceloneta and Port Vell areas of Barcelona. Whilst respecting the city's eighteenth-century urban grid, the projects have liberated this area from its previous isolation, affording the city a six-kilometre vista of the city. In a lecture to accompany an AA exhibition City Landscapes featuring these projects, Tarras examines concepts of the composition of new urban landscape through topological and geometrical work, the manipulation of scale, and the relationship between surfaces, concerns which have informed her work in Barcelona.NB: Cuts out during Q & A.
