A concept-mapping workshop hosted by AA alumna Elyssa Sykes-Smith will use the sculpture Reclaimed Chaos as a platform and metaphor for mental and emotional projection. Participants will be asked to imagine themselves as the protagonist figure in the artwork, surrounded by the context of the global climate crisis, and to reflect on their experience of the current situation. The event will begin with a live virtual artist-led tour of the sculpture in situ at the AA, followed by a guided workshop activity and wider discussion on the artwork and its context.
The session will consider the ways in which concept maps can demonstrate how people visualise the relationships between various concepts.
Participants are required to have access to a laptop or computer with internet access, paper, a drawing instrument and a camera. An image of the sculpture will provide the template for the concept mapping.
