Reflecting on urban design and the cultural role of the architect in the city, and the importance of the relationship of buildings to landscape, Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey discuss the dual preoccupations of city and landscape that are manifested in their work. They present a selection of the work of their practice, including the Irish Pavilion constructed in the courtyard of the Irish Museum of Modern Art; the Irish Film Centre in Temple Bar; the National Photographic Archive and School of Photography in Temple Bar; and the Blackwood Golf Centre in County Down, Northern Ireland. Sheila O’Donnell & John Tuomey founded O’Donnell + Tuomey in 1988. Together with colleagues they formed Group 91 in the same year to make strategic propositions in Temple Bar, Dublin's new cultural quarter.
