How do you curate an exhibition with an architect that everyone knows, whose work is self-presenting, and who already has an army of talent? For Countryside, a forthcoming exhibition at the Guggenheim with AMO/Rem Koolhaas, I’ve taken a page from method acting. How can I speak with authority on the countryside from my comfortable urban existence? This summer I went on dieta in the Peruvian Amazon. Deep in the jungle, Country spoke to me. Here it will speak through me. Here we will present the Country Side of Countryside, with lessons from cybernetics and Hermetics.
