The AA is home to students and staff from 81 different nations across the globe. Within the walls of 36 Bedford Square and amongst the trees of Hooke Park, you will hear over 40 languages being spoken. However, perhaps numbers and statistics don't reveal all the complexities of what it means to be truly diverse. As society at large becomes more aware of the nuances within ethnic, economic, gender and disability issues around the world, how do we as a school ensure that all these conditions are understood and represented? How do we attract, support and empower all those who study, work and participate in the many programmes and activities of the AA?
The Directions series provides the School Community with a forum to discuss issues such as diversity with Eva Franch, the School Director. This year, these lunchtime conversations will gather opinions and information for the development of the 2020-25 Strategic Plan. Presentations on key developments in the vision and mission of the school will open a space for discussion and debate that supports the participatory democracy that forms the foundation of the AA. These events are open to all members of the School Community.
