Sophie Delhay founded her own practice, SDA, in Paris in 2010. She has taught at the School of Architecture of Versailles and is currently Visiting Professor at EPFL, Lausanne. Centred on uses, her architecture makes "living together" the means by which landscapes, cities and architecture can take shape. More than an objective, this life in common is the condition for an ecology embracing human relationships.
SDA have developed an experimental approach in which geometry is central to housing design. The lecture will present the office's work, explain its approach to patterns of use and show how it reaches beyond conventional standards. Delhay's work has been awarded several prizes, including the Schelling Prize in 2022 and the Equerre d'Argent in 2019 for housing. It has been widely published, notably in the landmark survey of recent French architecture in ARCH+240.
