Lynda Fairbairn discusses Giovanni Battista Montano, a little-known Renaissance architect and teacher of architecture at the Accademia S. Luca in Rome. His drawings of Roman antiquities, especially of the brick tombs of the Roman Campagna, inspired some of the most famous architects of the Baroque period. Lynda Fairbairn completed the catalogue of the Italian Renaissance Drawings in Sir John Soane's Museum. Her previous research included collaborating on the catalogue of Palladio's drawings in the RIBA Drawings Collection and on a Palladio exhibition at the Hayward Gallery, London.
