Join us for the launch of High-Tech Heritage
High-tech architecture of the 1970s–1990s is typically characterised by the use and exhibition of technologies considered advanced in their day. In terms of appearance, these buildings often have innovative façades, supporting structures accentuated in colour, and expressive technology systems. Unfortunately, however, the rapid obsolescence of technology has often led to the complete replacement of the very systems that defined this architectural form. In 2023, an international conference at ETH Zürich in collaboration with Bauhaus-Universität Weimar explored the question of how best to deal with the structural legacy of technologically innovative architecture. High-Tech Heritage: (Im)permanence of Innovative Architecture summarises the results and provides an overview of the current state of research.
We are delighted to welcome editors Matthias Brenner and Silke Langenberg and their guests Patty Hopkins, Tom Emerson and Thomas Pearson.
The launch
will include an opportunity for questions,
refreshments and book sales.
Copies of the book will be sold at the special price of £50 (RRP £63)
