Argyris draws from the research conducted in collaboration with Kyriaki Nasioula, through their practice as co-directors of GesamtAtelier, to investigate the power dynamics and roles within the creative process of groups. Instead of the conventional setting of a speaker’s monologue in front of a slideshow, you are invited to experience a hybrid between performative lectures and workshops. The event analyses and compares various types of collective work using case studies from the fields of fine art, architecture, and dance. Based on the institutional critique/protest introduced by Dada, it explores methodologies and approaches to transgress the monarchy of a chef de cuisine, a leader of an architecture brand, or a film/dance/theatre director. Guest participants are invited to raise an inter-media conversation on democratising authorship and agency among the creative parties involved in a project, striking the right balance between individual sensibilities and team spirit.
Argyris Angeli is an artist, an academic, and an architect. He is the co-director GesamtAtelier, a company working on interdisciplinary, collaborative projects which combine the fields of fine art, performance, spatial design and sound composition. He is currently the Course Leader of the BA (Hons in Interior and Spatial Design at Bucks New University and a Studio Tutor at the AA Interprofessional Studio.
