Dutch architecture is alive and kicking . . . but what about Dutchness? There are forces at work whose scope and consequences go far beyond nationality and territory; forces of mentality, organization and design techniques which imply a restructuring of architecture as a whole as new strategies, models and ambitions emerge. Considering and responding to the question of Dutchness in architecture are the cultural and architectural historian, Ole Bouman, author and editor-in-chief of Archis magazine; architect Caroline Bos, who with Ben van Berkel first set up Van Berkel & Bos Architectuurbureau in 1988 and then UN Studio - a network of specialists in architecture, urban development and infrastructure - a decade later; and Charles Jencks, architect, designer, and author of numerous books including The Language of Post-Modern Architecture; Architecture Today and The Architecture of the Jumping Universe. The event is introduced by author and curator Lucy Bullivant.
