Energy saving is not seen as an end in itself but as one of many equally important design parameters which influence and form the final product. Tombazis sits on a number of committees related to renewable energy sources and bioclimatic design and he has lectured on these subjects in conferences worldwide. He firmly believes that practising architects should design buildings that are environmentally friendly, consume less energy and come close to the human scale. His office has been awarded prizes in more than 90 national and international competitions.
