Join us for the launch of Lineage and Legacy
Two themes: Collaboration and Repair
The friendships between architects and clients, the learning from one another, the mutual support and the sharing of ideas form a web that bind the projects and even the village itself together. The result is a kind of culture of thought and attitude which is both inspiring and relevant to today’s practice where notions of authorship, collaboration and collective work are being questioned.
The majority of projects in the book involve some sort of repair and adaptation. Economy of means and efficiency of use are evident in the transforming of the existing vernacular architecture and a redefining of domestic conventions with a few carefully considered interventions. To advocate for the sensible re-use and maintenance of building fabric that already exists, to re-purpose and thereby save a significant part of the energy expended in the building process is today of paramount importance.
We are delighted to welcome the authors Fernando, Stephen and the photographer David Grandorge to the AA Bookshop to celebrate the launch of this new publication in a conversation with Irenée Scalbert and chaired by Takero Shimazaki.
Introduced by Eileen Liebman. The book will be sold at the special price of £33 (RRP £41.50)
