'Timber is the new concrete': Alex de Rijke explains dRMM engineered timber projects as recent experiments in 'naked' construction. dRMM architects take pride in carrying out work that is innovative, high quality and socially useful. They have a track record of creating special architecture within the standard constraints of the current market and construction industry. Projects are led by concept, site and process, rather than by formulaic or style-based decisions. The team defines its approach as economy of means, expressive of use, materials and construction: an architecture of 'maximalism'. Alex de Rijke taught at the AA from 1995-2002. He founded dRMM with Philip Marsh and Sadie Morgan.
